If someone asks you,

why do you believe God loves you?

I’m pretty sure you will quote or reference John 3:16. But suppose your inquierer continues and asks,

why do you interpret John 3:16 in that way? In the way which concludes; God loves you.

What would your answer be?

The Tenets of Core Doctrine highlight a method which allows you to answer this question.

Core Doctrine is founded on the directives given in the following two scriptures:

... Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have... 1 Peter 3:15 NIV

&

... that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought... 1 Corinthians 1:10 NIV

We are our own worst enemies if we allow pride and ignorance to prevent us from realizing agreement. The undeniable truth of the matter is: someone must be wrong!

1 Corinthians 11:18 says, “No doubt there have to be differences among you to show which of you have God’s approval.”

Jesus’ death has already guaranteed our unity. It has already galvanised our victory. If believers make an effort to spend the time needed to come into agreement, we can realize this victory.
